Mediasite (Classroom Recordings)
What is Mediasite?
Mediasite is Stern's lecture capture and special event recording system.
How do Mediasite recordings work?
Approximately 1 hour before the event or class, presenters will receive an email notification with a recording link. The link contained in the email is shareable prior to the event or class.
The recording link will become active approximately 3-4 hours after the recorded event or class has concluded.
All classes will automatically be recorded unless an opt-out request is submitted to the Stern IT Service Desk.
The Stern IT Classroom Event Technology Group can assist faculty in setting up auto-posting for their NYU Brightspace site(s).
Please contact the Stern IT Service Desk if you are having trouble viewing your recording.
What devices can view Mediasite content?
PCs or Mac computers with any web-browser that supports HTML5.
Mediasite is available on most mobile devices.
How do I request a special event recording?
Please submit special event recording requests through the EMS WebApp system.
Can multiple people be notified to receive recording links (eg. TA/GA)?
Yes, multiple people can receive notifications for a class or event recording. Please contact Stern IT Service Desk to make this request.
When can I expect my course/special event link to be sent to me?
Approximately one hour before your event is scheduled to begin you will receive an email with the link to the event recording. The recording link will not work until approximately 3-4 hours after the event.
How do I share a recording with my students? With event attendees?
You can share the event link with your students or event attendees via email or NYU Brightspace.
Is there any way to share recordings with non-Stern individuals?
All recordings require an NYU Stern account to access. To request a recording be open to the public, contact the Stern IT Service Desk.
Please note that all public content must adhere to NYU Accessibility and FERPA guidelines.
How long will recordings be accessible?
Content will be available online for one calendar year from the date the class session or event was held.
