Following the Google migration, the requirements and process for requesting a Stern vanity email address have changed. SIMON, the former tool used by Stern community members to set up vanity email addresses, is no longer available.
How to select a Stern vanity address:
Go to NYU Home and sign in with your NYU NetID and password. From the NYU Home dashboard, click your profile icon in the upper-right corner.
Select Settings.
Find the section for your Stern Email Addresses.
Click the pencil icon, then choose a vanity from the dropdown options. Once you have chosen a vanity address, click Save Changes.
How to use a Stern vanity address:
Once your vanity address has been created, make sure to attach your vanity address to your NYU Gmail.
Visit email.nyu.edu to access your NYU Inbox. In the top right corner, select the Gear icon for your Settings. Select See all settings.
Under Accounts, go to Send mail as and select Add another email address.
Enter your vanity address exactly as it is written.
Make sure the box to Treat as an alias is selected.
You can find further information on adding a vanity address here: Gmail@Stern: Sending mail from a vanity email address in Gmail
Messages sent to your vanity address will be delivered to your NYU mailbox. Please note that your vanity address is not a separate inbox and it does not replace your NetID@nyu.edu email address. It is simply a nickname for your account.
