Welcome to NYU Stern! This page will guide you through the essential technology setup, access requests, and support resources available to you as a new administrative or staff member.

Before accessing Stern systems, you must activate your NYU account.
You should have received:
NYU NetID (e.g., abc123)
University ID (e.g., N#########)
Use this information to activate your account through NYU’s account activation portal, start.nyu.edu.
Your NYU credentials provide access to both University-wide and Stern-specific systems.

From here, you can access:

As a Stern staff member, you have access to:
Gmail:
Your Stern email account (different than your normal NYU email)
Google Shared Drives:
Departmental collaboration spaces
Shared team documents and files
Access to specific Shared Drives may require supervisor approval.
Some systems require manager approval before access is granted.
Your supervisor may submit requests to Stern IT for:
Network Drives
Google Shared Drives

If you are unsure what access you need, please consult your supervisor.
Certain licensed software requires a request and approval process.
Examples include:
Adobe Creative Cloud
Specialized Stern or NYU applications
Contact Stern IT or submit a request through the IT service portal for assistance.
New Computers
All new machines MUST be imaged by Stern IT to comply with NYU security standards and policies.
Stern IT Service Desk will get an automated ticket when the new machine is purchased.
Reassigned Computers
If you are receiving a previously used machine:
The device must be fully backed up before reassignment
The device will be reimaged for security compliance
Apple devices must have the Apple ID removed and Activation Lock disabled
Desk Setup Assistance
Stern IT can assist with:
Docking station setup
Monitor configuration
Peripheral installation (keyboard, mouse, webcam)
For ethernet connectivity,
Check that the network jacks are working is to connect to the your office phone
If your office phone turns on and is able to make outgoing calls, then the network jack is activated.
Please let Stern IT know if that is not the case or if the phone is working but the device's network connection is still not working.
Stern departments uses Pharos for printing services.
