Adding Nicknames to Gmail and Google+
Add a nickname to Gmail You can change the name that's linked to your Gmail address, but not the email address itself. - Open Gmail on a computer.
- At the top right, click the gear
. - Select Settings.
- Click the Accounts tab.
- In the “Send mail as:” section, locate the email address you'd like to edit.
- Click edit info next to the address.
- In the “Name:” section, specify what you’d like your name to be and click Save changes.
Add a nickname to Google+ Android- Open the Google+ app
> touch your photo in the top left corner. - Touch the menu icon/button
> Edit name. - Touch More options > touch Nickname.
- Type the name you want to add > choose how you want your name to show on your profile > Save in the top right corner.
Desktop- Open Google+ and select Profile from the drop-down menu in the top left corner.
 - Click on your name > click More options > click the “Nickname” box and enter your nickname.
- Click the drop-down menu next to “Display name as” and choose your preferred option.
- Click Save in the lower right corner of the box.
Mobile webYou can’t add a nickname on mobile web just yet. Please use the Google+ app or a desktop computer. iPhone/iPad- Open the Google+ app
> touch the menu icon in the upper left corner.  - Touch your picture at the top of the screen > touch the gear icon in the top right corner.
 - Touch Edit name > More options.
- Touch the box that says “Nickname” > enter your nickname.
- Under “Display name as,” touch the dot to the left of your preferred name > Save in the top right corner.
To use your nickname for your Stern personal email address, please contact the Stern IT Helpdesk with your preferred name. |
